Maxine Clarke MSOD, CEC, ACC, PMP

Maxine specializes in creating meaningful learning experiences for individuals and organizations. With a coaching style that is focused, friendly, and designed for breakthrough results, Maxine loves helping clients exceed their own expectations. Maxine has worked with coaching and consulting clients from Alberta’s public, private, and non-profit sectors, as well as from many countries internationally. Always curious about the development journey of others, her thesis investigated the pivotal career experiences, social influences, and mindset of executive leaders. Maxine has blended the practices of operations management and psychology throughout her 15 years of business experience in order to optimize organizational performance from both a process and human perspective.

Prior to joining Higher Ground, Maxine held Senior Manager and Director level roles within large government owned or funded organizations, where she led operational and project teams in transforming the way they work. Maxine’s leadership accountabilities have included management of capital and operating budgets, leading cross-functional project teams of up to 40 people in delivery of transformational initiatives, regular engagement with the executive team, and navigation of legislative and regulatory processes.   

Maxine’s consulting background has included work in change management, organizational learning and effectiveness, executive recruitment, and research. She has coached aspiring leaders, senior managers and executives through periods of transition and in the development of leadership capacity.

Maxine's education includes a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta, Masters Certificates in Executive Coaching and Project Management from York University and Royal Roads University respectively, and a Master of Science in Organizational Development from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management. She is certified as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF) as well as a Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Maxine’s work in organizational learning and development has been recognized at the provincial and national levels via the Alberta Venture Alberta’s Best Workplace for Learning & Development Award and the Canadian Society for Training and Development’s Silver Award for Training Excellence.

A long time Edmontonian, Maxine loves getting engaged in her community through volunteering and has served on several boards of directors and as a facilitator of governance workshops for non-profit organizations in recent years. She also enjoys yoga, cycling, and travel.
